Some people proudly display their guitar collection on the walls of their homes, or propped in the corner of the living room, as items of décor. Nashville-based furniture makers Suzanne Goeman and Dennis Janssens take this idea one step further with their guitartable, bassdrumtable, and pianobed.

The idea for their company, Music Furniture LLC, came to the Dutch furniture duo in 2007. They opened a showroom in the Netherlands in February 2008. During a trip to music mecca Nashville, Tennessee, the following summer, the team found a new home for their enterprise. "We liked the vibe," says Janssens. "We're from a village and Nashville is a big city, but we felt right at home immediately. Of course, we love music and we are both in bands, so with live music starting at noon, this is paradise to us!"

With a 900-square-foot showroom, Goeman and Janssens have to decide which funky furniture to display. Items include guitar-shaped bar stools, a microphone lamp, a drum-kit alarm clock, and acoustic and electric guitar toilet seats. They also take special requests for custom items. One of their most popular items is a briefcase made from a real acoustic guitar. "People really dig this," says Janssens. "Whenever I walk around with this, people always come up to us and want to buy it off me. It's both funny and functional for musicians."
