“Smart” Music-Making
We told you back in September, but the rest of the music-loving world is really starting to catch onto this smartphone music phenomenon. CNN.com posted a story last week about the myriad apps that have sprung up to help music makers bring their hobby to iPhones and iPod touches.
The new app that stuck out the most to us here at MM was ZOOZbeat. A so-called “music re-creation studio,” it features dozens of sounds, beats, and instruments, with room for expansions and add-ons.
The concept sounds like Intua BeatMaker, but the user interacts with the samples in real time by tapping and shaking the iPhone, a la DigiDrummer. Pretty cool. The guy in the CNN.com article even creates his tunes in bed while his wife is asleep next to him. Can’t do that with a drum set or guitar.
Check out the ZOOZbeat site for sample songs.
